2015 California Asian Business Summit

The 4th Annual California Asian Business Summit organized by the California Asian Pacific (CalAsian) Chamber of Commerce will be held on Thursday and Friday, September 17th and 18th at the Hilton Costa Mesa in Orange County. The California Asian Business Summit will bring together corporate, business, and government leaders to explore cutting edge issues affecting the global economy. The long-standing goal of this annual event has been to shine a light on the significant impact that Asian Pacific Islander (API) businesses, both domestic and abroad, have on the state’s economy.

Having the event in Orange County adds a special element to year’s summit. In Orange County, minority-owned businesses represent over 50% of the total number of firms and the Asian American and Pacific Islander (API ) is the fastest growing business population. Based on the latest census data, there are 63,416 API firms in Orange County, which is 19.3% of all firms in the county. These firms employ 96,140 Californians, resulting in an annual payroll of $3.06 billion. According to the L.A. Times in 2014, Orange County is home to the third largest Asian American population in the U.S. These stats represent just a glimpse of the reasoning behind holding this year’s Summit in one of the most exciting locales for API emergence.

The CalAsian Chamber, which has successfully organized this event over the last three years (in Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco), represents a growing and influential demographic for the state of California. The API community represents close to 15% of the state’s population and account for 16% of the total businesses with over 600,000 small businesses. The API demographic, according to the US Census Bureau is the fastest growing population in this state with 26% annualized growth year over year. Its mission is to help grow and empower the API business community throughout California. Representing the interests of API businesses in the state, the CalAsian Chamber is working to ensure these businesses are equipped with tools necessary to be successful and connect them with all opportunities available to help their business thrive.
